Kung Fu San Soo

Kung Fu San Soo, as it is commonly referred to in America, is a comprehensive system of self-protection.

San Soo is literally translated as free fighting, and, in the truest sense, this system prepares one to use whatever is necessary to end an unavoidable confrontation with practicality, effectiveness and efficiency.  This may entail extracting ones-self from a likely encounter by avoidance, by tactical diplomacy or by efficient use of force.

This ancient martial system predated the temple systems in China, but was preserved within them for many generations before being, once again, preserved - this time within the Chin (Chan) family of  Toisan, Kwan Tung (Guang Dong) Province, Southern China. After five generations in his family line, it was given to Lo Sifu Chin Siu Dek (AKA Grandmaster Jimmy H. Woo), who generously entrusted his family art to the Americans who trained with him.  Today it remains preserved in his line through his grandson, James King and in those of us who continue to apply it's principles in learning and teaching.

David W. Lorenson, head instructor for Living Free Kung Fu San Soo, has been a student of the martial arts since 1979.  First introduced to San Soo in Redlands, CA by Master Dennis A. Scheller, he now continues training under 8th degree black belt Master, Sifu David A. Simons, Plano, TX.

Grateful to be a part of the Al Rubin lineage, we bring you the excellence of the art as he taught it and as he learned it from Grandmaster Jimmy H. Woo.  Grandmaster Woo first introduced Kung Fu to Americans in a public forum in El-Monte, CA, 1959.  His school had a grand opening celebration in 1962 and ever since, there has been an element of real Kung Fu in the USA.

Sifu Lorenson, 8th degree black belt master, is part of the David A. Simons Association and is honored to bring you the excellence of his teacher and distinguished lineage.
